Man shot, killed after breaking into ex-girlfriend’s home, cops say

Throughout Tuesday, a man allegedly sent several threatening texts to his ex-girlfriend in Clayton County. However, he was the one who ended up dead after allegedly breaking into her home.

The man, who has not been identified, was found upstairs in a home in the 9100 block of Jenni Circle around 6 p.m., Clayton County police said in a news release.

The homeowner, who has also not been identified, told police the man had been “threatening to take her life” all day in several text messages before breaking into her home, the release said.

She accused him of entering her bedroom, which is where she was hiding. An exchange of gunfire took place, and he ended up dying, the release said. Police didn’t confirm who shot him or with whom he exchanged gunfire.

The woman is cooperating and was taken to police headquarters for further questioning, the release said. No other details were released.
