The two people found shot to death at a Gwinnett County home Wednesday afternoon in an apparent murder-suicide have been identified as a mother and her son, police said.

The bodies of 83-year-old June Fiveash and 51-year-old Russell Fiveash were discovered inside a house off Highland Ridge Point in unincorporated Lawrenceville, AJC.com previously reported.

Police found the bodies after responding to a wellness check, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Collin Flynn said Thursday. They were called in by a hospice nurse who was scheduled to meet with June Fiveash.

“At this time, it appears as though Russell shot and killed June before killing himself,” Flynn said.

Detectives have not released a possible motive for the murder-suicide.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can also contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 or online at www.StopCrimeATL.com.
