Officials are searching for leads in a shooting that left a man dead in Monroe, police said.
Few details were released on what led to the shooting that killed 20-year-old Lewis Palmer Jones Outlaw Jr., but Monroe police hinted that it could be gang-related.
"We have worked countless hours in the last 24 months focusing on the gang-related crimes of drug and gun (sales) in order to deter and prevent this kind of senseless violence,” Monroe police Chief Keith Glass said in a Facebook post. “We will find the person or persons responsible for taking this young life tonight and they will be brought to justice.”
Authorities, who responded about 11 p.m. Monday to a call about “discharging firearms” at Wheel House Road, found Outlaw unconscious. He died after several life-saving efforts by officials, Monroe police said.
No other details were released.
