Two women were shot Sunday as DeKalb County police broke up an unauthorized party that had attracted hundreds of revelers to a park near Stone Mountain.

Channel 2 Action News reported that there were about 1,000 people at Wade Walker Park Rockbridge Road, and as police dispersed the crowd, chaos erupted.

DeKalb police Capt. Stephen Fore said Chardonae Meeks and Maya Scott, both 19, sustained graze wounds to the head that were not life-threatening, and were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

"According to witnesses, a male with the victims got into an argument with a group of people," Fore told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an email. "The male and two victims got into their vehicle to leave when a suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple times into the vehicle, striking the two victims."

The shooter got away.

According to Channel 2, the party, which was largely attended by teenagers, was widely promoted on social media, and police plan to review those posts in an attempt to track down the party's promoter.

"This is not acceptable," DeKalb Public Safety Director Cedric Alexander told the station. "We're not going to tolerate this type of chaos."
