Two children were taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston after they were struck by a car while trick-or-treating, Atlanta police said.

The children — an 8-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy — darted into traffic on the 900 block of Monroe Drive when they were stuck by a car traveling westbound on 8th Street, Atlanta police Officer Stephanie Brown said.

Brown said the children are alert, conscious and breathing.

The driver remained on the scene and no charges are expected.
