Days before a Boy Scout camping trip, two men allegedly stole the troop’s trailer from a Hall County church.

On Monday, Gainesville police said they recovered the trailer and most of the contents, and arrested two people in connection with the Feb. 12 theft.

Christopher Wayne Cohen, 47, and Timothy Neal Bruce, 32, were charged with felony theft by taking, Gainesville police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said.

The trailer had been donated nearly a decade ago and was marked “Boy Scouts of America Troop 215, Church of the Latter Day Saints.” The church is in the 1200 block of Riverside Drive.

“It is sad that these young scouts, who work so hard for these items, and provide so much for the community, had everything taken from them,” Gainesville police Chief Carol Martin said. “We are pleased to have recovered the stolen property and returned it to these fine young men.”
