Two teenagers have been charged in the “gang-motivated” shooting death of a 17-year-old boy in Marietta last month, police said.

Nicholas Palmer, 17, and a 16-year-old are facing felony murder and other charges in the death of Miles Saunders, police spokesman Charles McPhilamy said in an emailed statement.

The 16-year-old was identified as Harrison Summerour by Channel 2 Action News.

Both suspects, who are in custody, will be tried as adults, McPhilamy said. Neither is from the Marietta area, Channel 2 reported.

Saunders’ body was found inside his Wilson Circle residence Aug. 27 after a 911 call reported someone was “accidentally shot” there, police said.

“During the course of the investigation,” McPhilamy said, “a second handgun was located and is now secured in evidence.”

Palmer also is charged with being a minor in possession of a pistol and street gang terrorism and criminal gang activity.

Summerour is charged with being a minor in possession of a pistol, two counts of aggravated assault by weapon, and street gang terrorism and criminal gang activity.
