Teacher who had sex with student gets plea deal, celebrates on social media

A Louisiana high school teacher admitted in court to having consensual sex with a 16-year-old male student, pleading guilty to obscenity.

Shelley Dufresne, 32, accepted a plea deal which will keep her out of jail, according to Fox 8.

Instead of facing a 3-year prison sentence, Dufresne will spend 90 days in a mental health facility and three years on probation. Her teaching license was also revoked. She will not have to register as a sex offender.

Dufresne was so pleased with the deal that after her court appearance, she posted a gleeful photo of herself on Instagram with the caption, “My mood today.”

Her Instagram account has since been made private. However, her profile, which is still available to the public, has been updated. It reads: "Only God Can Judge Me. Everybody Makes Mistakes. Retired Teacher. Family Oriented."

Dufresne has one more legal battle ahead of her. In a separate case, she and another teacher are accused of having a threesome with a student.
