A teacher was removed from the classroom Friday following an alleged fight with a student, Atlanta Public Schools confirmed.

The fight happened at Benjamin E. Mays High School in southwest Atlanta, APS spokesman Ian Smith said.

Smith said the teacher was temporarily removed from the school pending an investigation. The teacher’s identity was not released.

“Safety and security is a top priority at APS, and we are committed to graduating every student ready to succeed in college and career,” Smith said.
