A Cherokee County man is facing multiple charges in a crash earlier this month that killed a motorcyclist.

William Bartula, 66 of Woodstock, was driving an SUV in the Aug. 15 crash in which William Lunsford, 48, of Woodstock, was hit, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said Thursday.

Lunsford died Aug. 22 from his injuries at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

According to sheriff’s reports, Bartula’s SUV was making a left turn into a convenience store at East Cherokee Drive and Tomahawk Trail just after 6 a.m.

Bartula, who was not injured in the crash, failed to yield to  Lunsford’s motorcycle, according to Baker.

Bartula was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield, according to Baker. He surrendered Monday to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center and was released on $2,211 bond.
