Authorities searching for a wanted Jonesboro man found more than they bargained for when they stopped his truck Thursday.
After taking Justin Edge into custody, deputies recovered a large amount of illegal drugs, according to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. About 159 grams of methamphetamine and 8 grams of marijuana were seized from Edge’s red Ford pickup truck, the agency said in a public advisory.
It was the same truck that led Lovejoy police on a high-speed chase last week, authorities said. Deputies on Thursday spotted the 2020 Ford Ranger in the area of Museum Circle and arrested Edge.
In addition to the suspected drugs, deputies said they also found a digital scale and a gun in the truck.
Edge, 32, was wanted on outstanding charges of battery related to family violence and criminal trespass, court records show. Following his arrest, he is now facing charges of violating Georgia’s controlled substances act, possessing less than an ounce of marijuana and possessing a weapon during the commission of a crime.
His bond was scheduled to be considered at a first appearance hearing Friday.
