Police are searching for a young man who tried to rob a 61-year-old man at gunpoint in LaGrange on Monday evening.

About 7:15 p.m., officers were called to a home off Carver Street after receiving a call about an armed robbery, LaGrange police said in a Facebook post.

Officers met with the victim, who said a young man wearing a hoodie and a mask tried to rob him at gunpoint on his front porch. The victim had marks on his face where the suspect hit him with the handgun, the post said.

Police also released surveillance footage of the attack, which shows the two struggle over the gun. The victim ends up running away, which is when the suspect appears to give up and leave.

On April 13, 2020, at 7:15pm, officers responded to Carver Street in reference to an armed robbery that just occurred....

It’s unclear whether the suspect got away with any items during the attempted robbery.

The suspect remains on the run, and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 706-883-2690 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
