Authorities on Saturday released the name of a man wanted in connection with a Thanksgiving Day shooting that left a 20-year-old dead.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office named 22-year-old Jalen Leverette as the prime suspect in Thursday’s shooting, which occurred at a home in Forest Park.

Forest Park police were called to the intersection of Lee Circle and Madison Street about 5 p.m. to investigate the shooting, AJC.com previously reported.

When they arrived, Martin had already been taken to Southern Regional Medical Center by a friend, Forest Park police Sgt. Kelli Flanigan said. He later died at the hospital.

Authorities believe Leverette and Martin knew each other, though it’s unclear what they were arguing about.

Martin’s mother, who didn’t want to be identified, disagrees with the police’s account, saying the altercation was down the street and he went there to try to intervene.

Leverette was last seen driving a black four-door sedan and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact the Clayton County Sheriff's Office at 770-477-4479 or submit an anonymous tip online.
