A man is dead and a gunman is on the run after a shooting Thanksgiving Day in Forest Park.

Police were called about 5 p.m. Thursday to investigate the shooting at the intersection of Lee Circle and Madison Street. When they arrived, the victim, identified by police as 20-year-old Jason Martin, had already been taken to Southern Regional Medical Center by a friend.

He had been shot at least once, Forest Park police Sgt. Kelli Flanigan said. Martin later died at the hospital.

“The suspect is still at large and has yet to be identified,” she said in a news release. “However, this does not appear to be a random incident. It appears the suspect and the victim are known acquaintances.”
