A suspect masked in a Darth Vader costume was arrested Sunday night for attempted armed robbery in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
The Jacksonville Beach Police Department responded to an attempted armed robbery report at a convenience store. JBPD said the 32-year-old man entered the store and showed a handgun to an employee while demanding money. The clerk hit the man with a bottle of blue cheese dressing.
The suspect then ran from the store, JBPD said.
A witness saw the man get into a vehicle and remove the Darth Vader mask.
A neighbor identified the owner of the vehicle suspected in the robbery as Jacob Mercer. A witness identified Mercer as the suspect, according to JBPD.
Police searched Mercer's home and reportedly found several handguns and ammunition in a backpack.
Police observed a cut and bleeding from his nose, JBPD said. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Mercer is charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
