A Marietta man is facing murder and aggravated assault charges in connection with a fatal shooting this week at a Smyrna motel, officials said.

Troy Lann, 33, was arrested without incident at his mother’s home in Chester County, S.C., on Friday after an extensive search by the Cobb sheriff’s office fugitive squad and the U.S. Marshals Southeast Fugitive Task Force.

Sunday afternoon, Cobb authorities were called to the Cumberland Lodge in Smyrna, where they found 30-year-old Shawn Moore shot in an upstairs room, sheriff's spokesman Robert Quigley said. Moore was rushed to a hospital, where he later died. Moore's family members told authorities at the time they believed they knew who shot him.

Lann is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, Quigley said.
