Four people were arrested on drug trafficking charges in Newnan after officials found methamphetamine and heroin in their possession, GBI officials said.

The arrests are part of an ongoing statewide drug distribution investigation, according to GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles.

Sergio Juarez, Ceirra Harrison, Pedro Guzman and Paula Garcia, all of Gwinnett County, were taken into custody Monday at a location on Bullsboro Drive, Miles said.

When Newnan police and Coweta County deputies made the arrests, they seized about 5 kilograms, or roughly 11 pounds, of meth and 1 kilogram of heroin, Miles said.

According to Georgia law, possession of more than 28 grams of meth or more than 4 grams of heroin is considered trafficking.

Juarez, 32, Harrison, 26, Guzman, 36, and Garcia, 37, were each booked into the Coweta County Jail, where they remain with no bond. They are charged with trafficking methamphetamine and heroin.

Juarez faces an additional charge of obstruction of officers, jail records show.
