3 sought in woman’s fatal shooting outside Burger King in SW Atlanta

When three men attempted to carjack Lavonda Finklea late Friday, she fought back, Atlanta police said.

She was later found dead in her car outside a Burger King in the 2600 block of Metropolitan Parkway in southwest Atlanta.

The three men were seen running from the shooting scene in newly released video from Atlanta police.

“At this time our homicide investigators are working to identify the suspects and determine what led to the shooting,” Atlanta police Officer Stephanie Brown.

Surveillance footage from outside the Burger King shows the trio walking past a sedan. A few seconds later, two of them are seen running in the opposite direction.

Police believe Finklea, 35, was confronted by the men during a carjacking.

When she resisted one of them shot her.

A GoFundMe page was created to raise money funeral costs.

“Her family in Florida is trying to raise money to have her body transferred to Pensacola so that her children can bury her,” friend Trae Pittman wrote in a post on the page.
