Smyrna police are investigating after a report Wednesday that a man tried to lure an 11-year-old girl into his car while she was walking home from school.

The attempted kidnapping took place between 4:15 and 4:30 p.m. in the Heritage at Vinings subdivision on Atlanta Road, according to news release Thursday afternoon.

While the girl was walking home from Campbell Middle School, a man approached her and tried to get her to get into her car, she told police. She refused and ran to a nearby home, causing the man to drive away, according to the release.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s with a brown goatee. He was driving a black, four-door truck with tinted windows.

Anyone with information on the case should contact Smyrna police.
