Two sisters accused of fatally beating a boy for eating a cupcake pleaded not guilty, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.

Glenndria and Lashirley Morris each face felony murder charges in the Oct. 21 beating death of 3-year-old Kejuan Mason at a southwest Atlanta home. The boy lived with Glenndria Morris, his legal guardian, at the time.

According to records obtained from the Division of Family and Children Services, Lashirley Morris beat Kejuan in the head, stomach, back, arms and legs as punishment for eating a cupcake, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. Another child living in the home identified Morris as the one wielding a bat.

Kejuan died from blunt force trauma to the head and torso.

The sisters remain in the Fulton County Detention Center on a $200,000 bond, jail records show.
