Two recent shooting deaths in the same part of town have authorities in the Walton County city of Monroe investigating whether the incidents are related.

The latest was about 6 p.m. Sunday, when officers found Shaun Barfield, 33, of Monroe, unresponsive in the 200 block of Tanglewood Lane, police said in a Facebook post. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

About midnight Saturday, authorities said Darrin Bernard Barnes, 43, of Duluth, died when an altercation turned violent at a party on Tanglewood Drive, police Chief Keith said in an email.

The streets intersect twice near Ga. 11.

“It has not been determined if (the Barfield) incident is in any way related to the death of Darrin Bernard Barnes last night on Tanglewood Drive,” police said on Facebook. “Detectives and agents are working several leads in this and the Barnes death investigation.”

Police and the GBI processed the scene in both cases and are seeking tips.
