A 17-year-old died of his injuries shortly after one of two shootings reported in a 3-mile radius in Henry County on Wednesday night.

Quintavious D. Barber of McDonough died as a result of the first shooting reported about 8:30 p.m. at the Sable Chase Apartments in unincorporated McDonough, police spokesman Capt. Joey Smith said.

“A group of individuals in the parking lot were involved in a dispute,” Smith said.

Barber died at the hospital.

Shortly after 10 p.m., Ryan Keith Hollis, 21, was shot at the Crossings at McDonough apartments, according to a police report.

Police have not said whether the shootings are connected.

Witnesses told McDonough police officers that Hollis was showing his gun to other passengers in a car when it accidentally went off.

Hollis suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Henry County police.
