A man confessed to shooting and killing his girlfriend after they got into an argument near Lithonia, police said Wednesday.

DeKalb County detectives told Channel 2 Action News the shooting happened in the boyfriend’s apartment on Place Fontaine near Fairington and Panola roads.

The 40-year-old man called 911 and waited for officers to come.

“When they arrived, a male subject standing outside stated that a female was shot inside his apartment,” DeKalb police Lt. Rod Bryan said.

The DeKalb Police Department confirmed Thursday that the victim was Nyyokokie Hendley, 39.

No charges are pending at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
