A man was arrested in the shooting death of someone he argued with at a Newnan apartment complex, police said.

Orenthal Jermaine Carroll, who got into an argument with Adrian Cantrell Sheffield, produced a small handgun and killed the man, Newnan police spokeswoman Gina Snider said.

It’s unclear what the two men argued about.

Officers responded to the scene on Octavia Drive about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a shots-fired call but they did not see anything suspicious, Channel 2 Action News reported.

After walking around the area, they found Sheffield, 44, of Newnan, down without a pulse, the news station reported.

Emergency Management Services and fire officials tried to save him but he died on the scene, Snider said.

Carroll was arrested and charged with murder, Snider said.
