A Gwinnett County man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot a man he met with through Craigslist, authorities said.

Robert Frederick, 32, of Grayson, was arrested on the scene after officers searched his home Friday, Forsyth County sheriff’s spokesman Peter Sabella said. The search came after Eugene Ryerson, 57, of Cumming, was shot in a Kroger parking lot in Forsyth County.

Ryerson was found sitting in the front of a pickup truck about 11:25 p.m. Sept. 30, Sabella said. Ryerson said he met the suspect on Peachtree Parkway to purchase tools, and that he had bought tools from the same man previously.

No information was released about Ryerson’s injuries or condition.

Frederick also has been charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault, Sabella said. Small quantities of heroin, cocaine and firearms were found in the search of his home, Sabella said.

He’s being held in the Forsyth County Jail without bond.

Frederick also faces weapons and drug charges in Gwinnett, Sabella said.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
