UPDATE: The 6-year-old Forsyth County boy believed abducted by his mother was recovered safely Sunday, authorities said.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez said Trevor Cargle’s mother — 23-year-old Amber Christin Fisher, who does not have legal custodial rights — dropped him off at a friend’s house around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Fisher later turned herself in to authorities and, as of Monday morning, remained in the Forsyth County jail on contempt of court charges.

The child was in the custody of the Division of Family and Children Services.
