A man is in custody after “terrorizing” a woman during an armed home invasion in Clayton County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Renaldo Dennard Burns ran from deputies Tuesday after they saw him on Old National Highway, Sheriff Victor Hill said in a statement. Burns was caught and arrested.

“Unfortunately for Burns, his cardiovascular conditioning was not sufficient enough to facilitate an escape ...,” Hill said in the statement.

Burns had been wanted since Monday, when he allegedly forced his way into a Jonesboro house and fired two shots, “terrorizing a female victim who was home inside,” Hill said.

Hill said Burns took the woman’s purse, which contained all of her cash, and ran from the scene. A warrant charging him with home invasion was issued.
