A “self-proclaimed pimp” wanted on charges of rape and human trafficking was arrested Wednesday in Memphis, authorities said.

Earnest Reed, 29, is suspected of trafficking young women across several U.S. cities, including metro Atlanta, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office said Friday in a news release.

Local investigators and members of the U.S. Marshals Service interviewed Reed’s acquaintances and staked out his known locations across Atlanta, determining he fled to Tennessee.

Authorities notified U.S. marshals that Reed was likely staying at a friend’s home, and he was arrested there, Cobb sheriff’s office spokesman Glenn Daniel said.

He is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail as he awaits extradition to Cobb, records show.
