A former employee of the Floyd County school system was arrested after he allegedly tried to meet a minor for a sexual encounter, according to a report.

Jeffrey Ryan Lance, 26, met the child online in order to commit aggravated child molestation, the Rome News-Tribune reported.

He’s charged with criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation and use of a computer to seduce a child. He is jailed with no bond.

The school system subsequently fired Lance from his position in the facilities department, Superintendent John Jackson said.
