A man went to a Roswell apartment complex to try to sell a stereo. He left without the stereo or any cash — but with a fractured skull and a broken leg.
Bo Watson of Peachtree Corners told Channel 2 Action News he was trying to sell stereo equipment Wednesday at a BP gas station off Holcomb Bridge Road when a prospective buyer approached him.
“He said he only had $100 on him but could round up $500 more if I went back to his apartment,” Watson said.
Surveillance video shows the two leave the gas station and drive to the Station Heights apartment complex off Saratoga Drive, Channel 2 reported. Watson said he began to get the equipment out of the back of his van when he “felt a crash at the back of (his) head.”
“This guy was kicking me, stomping on my neck, stomping on my leg — just going to town on me,” he said.
He’s recovering at his mother’s home from multiple injuries. He told the news station that doctors said the skull injury could’ve killed him.
“They told me if there was a little more pressure and the skull piece broke off and went into my brain, it could have killed me,” Watson said.
Roswell police spokeswoman Lisa Holland seconded his diagnosis, saying he “was beaten pretty badly.”
She told AJC.com that a second man joined Watson’s attacker at some point, and they didn’t stop beating him until a group of witnesses intervened. Police haven’t been able to identify either attacker.
Holland said one man was 6-foot-1 and about 170 pounds, wearing some red clothing. The other man was 5-foot-8, about 150 pounds and wearing a white or gray hooded shirt with a camouflage stripe around the hood.
