Rome man accused of striking blind girlfriend with machete

A Rome man is facing multiple charges after authorities said he hit his blind girlfriend with a machete.

Clyde Jess Reeves III, 44, was arrested by Rome police Monday in connection with the incident, according to Floyd County Jail records.

Reeves used the machete to hit his girlfriend in the head, according to a Floyd statement of criminal charges. She received a laceration during the incident, officials said.

Reeves and his girlfriend had lived together for about five years, the statement said.

He remains in jail with no bond. He is charged with battery, felony aggravated assault, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime and exploitation and intimidation of disabled adults.
