State investigators are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information about a fire that was intentionally set at a Walton County home Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The fire started shortly after 4 p.m. at a house in the 1400 block of Creek View Drive in Monroe, Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John King said Thursday in a news release.

“The fire appears to have been set to the exterior wall of the rear bedroom in the home,” King said. “Thankfully, the owner of the home was able to safely escape and alert the authorities.”

Anyone with information about the person or people involved in the arson is asked to call the state’s Fire Investigations Unit at 1-800-282-5804. Calls are taken 24 hours a day, and tipsters can choose to remain anonymous.
