The DeKalb County Police Department raided a doctor’s home Wednesday and found hundreds of animals.

Animal Services received a tip, investigated and obtained a search warrant for the residence on Echo Trail in Atlanta, DeKalb County police spokesman Maj. Stephen Fore said.

Officers found more than 400 birds and eight dogs in the home, which belongs to prominent cardiologist Abhay Trivedi, according to Channel 2 Action News. At least 20 of the birds were dead.

Police said it is one of the worst cases of animal hoarding they have seen.

“The birds are being relocated and will be cared for pending the outcome of the investigation,” Fore said.

Police said the birds were not in adequate cages and the size of the property does not allow for more than three dogs. DeKalb Animal Services Tweeted a request for large parrot cages at 9:27 a.m.

Trivedi could face felony charges, Fore said.
