A Sandy Springs family said care packages were snatched off their front steps as their teenage son recovered in the hospital this week.

The family told Channel 2 Action News they were in the intensive care unit tending to the 14-year-old, who was struck by a car, when someone pulled up and helped themselves to several packages sitting outside their door.

Parents said the packages contained gifts for the teen and meals for the family so they could stay at their son’s bedside without having to worry about cooking.

The package theft was captured on a doorbell surveillance system and Sandy Springs police hope the images may help identify the suspect.

“It just makes me feel nervous and scared, and that’s the last thing I need right now because I’m trying to take care of my son who’s healing,” the teen’s mother told the news station.

The surveillance video shows the suspected thief pull up in what appears to be a dark-colored Chevrolet Camaro before scooping up several packages and running back to their car.

Sandy Springs police hope surveillance video can help them identify the person who stole packages from the home of an injured teenager this week.
