Atlanta police are trying to find the people who shot a man multiple times and then stomped on him while he was on the ground.

Dorian Whittington, 42, died from his injuries after he was attacked Friday, according to an incident report.

Officers were sent to a location on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive after someone reported a man had been shot. When they arrived, they found Whittington lying on the ground with “several gunshot wounds,” the report said.

Whittington was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died, officials said.

Witnesses told police three men surrounded Whittington, and one pulled out a gun and shot him more than once. Then, the three men started stomping him while he lay on the ground, according to the report.

Whittington is a native of Toledo, Ohio, according to a GoFundMe page created to cover funeral costs. His family is making arrangements to have his body taken to Ohio, the page said.

An investigation is ongoing.
