Police are searching for whoever broke into a Gainesville patrol car, took it for a joyride and then wrecked it Sunday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m., the cop car was stolen from the 100 block of Paces Court, which is within the Paces Landing Apartments, Gainesville police said in a news release. Forced entry was made into the vehicle.

A window was broken so the suspect could enter the patrol car, police said.
