A police officer was accidentally shot in southwest Atlanta Wednesday, authorities said.

The motors officers was shot on his right side along Southside Industrial Parkway next to the Atlanta Police Academy, Atlanta police spokesperson Stephanie Brown said.

It’s unclear whether this was a self-inflicted gunshot or not, Brown said.

The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is in stable condition, Brown said.
