2 men take off after Atlanta traffic stop, cause 5-car accident

This is one of the five vehicles involved in a crash Sunday night in northeast Atlanta.

Atlanta police are searching for two people who drove away from a traffic stop, caused a multi-car crash and then took off “like track stars” early Sunday morning.

Officers tried to pull over a gray Infiniti G35 at Cheshire Bridge Road and Faulkner Road in northeast Atlanta about 2 a.m., Atlanta police spokeswoman Lisa Bender told AJC.com.

The Infiniti kept going before hitting several vehicles and a utility pole in the 1800 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, Bender said. Channel 2 Action News reported five vehicles were involved, and three were totaled, according to witness accounts.

Bender said the men got out of the Infiniti and ran into nearby woods, and the suspects haven’t been located yet. Jessica Davis, whose Audi was totaled in the wreck, said the men ran away.

“These two suspects jumped out of the car and ran down the street like track stars,” she told Channel 2. “They weren’t hurt or anything. They took off running.”

A cellphone, handgun and two Tennessee IDs were found in the abandoned vehicle, Bender said.

An investigation is ongoing.
