Dennis Hyman allegedly lunged at the woman with his knife in the middle of trying to steal her Michael Kors purse on Walthall Avenue in Marietta, Channel 2 reported. Police said he scratched her on her left ear, apparently tearing a piece of skin off.

Cobb County police said he got the purse, but the woman kicked him in the chest and ran away to call 911, Channel 2 reported.

Hyman allegedly went back to his home on Pine Street, but when officers arrived, he hid in nearby bushes in a field behind his house, the news station reported.

Channel 2 reported that Hyman was on probation when the robbery took place in June.

He was also previously charged with aggravated assault for attempting to attack a man with a knife, according to the news station. Five year ago, he was also charged with battery after he bit someone during an argument.

Hyman also faces misdemanors for battery and obstruction of a law enforcement officer, according to Cobb County Jail records. He was denied bond.
