Domenic Callaway, 30, faces several charges after allegedly stealing the car in the area of Metropolitan Parkway and Perkerson Road around 5:30 p.m., Atlanta police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown said.

Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but Callaway sped off, losing officers, Brown said. However, police found the vehicle overturned near Dill Avenue and Sylvan Road shortly afterward.

Channel 2 Action News reported the suspect sideswiped another vehicle before overturning. No one inside the vehicle was seriously hurt.

Callaway was outside the wrecked vehicle when officers arrived, and he didn’t get far on his injured leg before being arrested, Brown said.

A firearm was found in the vehicle, and drugs were recovered from the suspect, Brown said.

He faces charges of auto theft, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of both Schedule I and II narcotics and multiple other traffic offenses.

An investigation is ongoing.
