Atlanta police officers shot a wanted man Wednesday afternoon after he rammed their vehicle with his own, authorities said.

Atlanta police spokesman Officer Ralph Woolfolk said two officers were investigating a “suspicious vehicle” in the 800 block of Thurmond Street NW when the man inside the car attempted to drive away. The suspect rammed the officers’ vehicle in the process, Woolfolk said, and both officers fired at him.

The suspect was hit in the forearm and leg and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

“The suspect was confirmed to be a wanted person and the vehicle being investigated was confirmed to be stolen,” Woolfolk said.

The officers did not report any injuries.

No further information was released.
