It’s been more than a month since two children found Cory Roberts dead and tied up in Mozley Park in northwest Atlanta.

At a press conference Thursday, Atlanta police homicide commander Lt. Charles Hampton said they have no idea who killed Roberts, Channel 2 Action News reported. However, authorities believe it was someone he knew.

Roberts, 22, was found Jan. 27 with his hands bound, the television station reported. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Officer determined he had been suffocated.

Police said Roberts was last seen at the Five Points MARTA station, four days before his body was found.

Roberts’ mom said she just wants justice.

Police say the victim was suffocated.

"I just want to know why this happened to my son,” Natasha Bruner told Channel 2 Action news. “Why would somebody do this to him and we just want someone to come forward.”

Bruner visited Mozley Park shortly after the press conference.

“It’s just the last place that he (was found),” she told Channel 2, “To know that he over there like that just … it just breaks my heart as a mother.”

Police are still searching for clues leading up to Roberts’ death.

“If you saw Cory with someone, or have a nickname or anything, we’re just asking you to contact us,” Hampton said at the press conference.

Six soldiers were honored, each receiving Meritorious Service Medals, Thursday for heroic actions responding to the shooting at Fort Stewart. “One of the things I can say unequivocally is that the fast action of these soldiers — under stress and under trauma and under fire — absolutely saved lives from being lost,” U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll told reporters as the six soldiers stood near him Thursday. “They are everything that is good about this nation.” (Hyosub Shin/AJC)
