Cobb County police have identified the man and woman found dead Wednesday morning in a quiet townhouse community near Kennesaw.
According to a news release, police believe Michael Le, 58, shot and killed Navy Thuy Vo, 35, before turning the gun on himself.
The pair was found inside a townhome on Heritage Park Circle, near Barrett Parkway and Town Center Mall, Sgt. Dana Pierce said.
Family members weren’t at home at the time of the shootings, but are believed to have called 911 after returning home, Pierce said. Relatives were cooperating with investigators Wednesday afternoon.
“At this point, there is no reason to believe the public is at risk as the result of us finding the two bodies,” Pierce said.
Pierce was unaware of any prior police calls to the home, he told AM 750 and 95.5 FM News/Talk WSB.
The neighborhood, just south of Barrett Parkway, is gated.
“Even talking to our beat officers, that is a relatively quiet area,” Pierce said.
Neighbor Jessie Hancock Glass told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution she returned home shortly before noon and was shocked to see her street filled with police vehicles. Hancock Glass said she didn’t know the family well, but was saddened to hear news of the couple’s death.
“I’ve seen them out and about around the neighborhood,” she said Wednesday afternoon.
Hancock Glass said the man and woman, who owned a nail salon, had recently traveled to Vietnam and may have been newlyweds. Two middle-school age children also lived in the home and were seen being picked up and leaving the neighborhood.
“The neighborhood has been here since 2005, and we’ve never had anything like that happen,” Hancock Glass said. “It’s a great place to live.”
