A Florida man was arrested on Monday after police said he smashed an ATM screen after it wouldn’t allow him to withdraw any money.
Branden Jimmy Morin, 21, was caught on surveillance video outside a Naples-area Chase Bank ATM around 11:50 p.m. on Dec. 11 punching the screen of the machine, WTSP reported. Morin was identified later by multiple anonymous tips to the Naples Police Department.
According to police, the video showed Morin attempting to run his card through the machine, but it was unsuccessful because it was rebooting at the time. Police said Morin "became upset and punched the ATM’s screen,” which caused it to go offline while the repairs happened.
Morin told police that he smashed the machine after it wouldn’t allow him to withdraw $200 and he was drunk at the time. He was arrested on a felony charge of criminal mischief for causing more than $1,000 of damage.
