A Palm Bay man was arrested after police said he was driving under the influence in a motorized wheelchair on Monday.
Ronny Scott Hicks, 54, was allegedly obstructing traffic on a bridge on Monday night, WKMG reports. Police were called to the scene and found Hicks in a motorized wheelchair, intoxicated and obstructing traffic.
According to police, officers noticed "an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Hicks," who was also slurring his speech. Officers said "Hicks didn't follow instructions" and also "refused to give a breath test." WTSP reports Hicks has "two prior convictions for DUI."
Hicks was arrested on a driving under the influence charge and “refused treatment for an open wound,” WKMG reports.
