Police are searching for two armed robbers who hit a man in the head before stealing his rental car at gunpoint in Ansley Park.

The victim, who’s from Phoenix, told Atlanta police he was driving a black 2019 Toyota Camry when he stopped along Peachtree Circle to make a phone call last Thursday about 9 p.m., according to an incident report obtained by AJC.com. That’s when two masked men wearing hoodies, one of whom was armed, approached him and demanded he get out of his car.

Once he got out, the man was told to “empty your pockets” before being hit on the left side of his face, the report said. The armed robber also pointed a revolver at his chest and head during the incident.

The two men drove off in the victim’s car with his wallet and two iPhones, the report said. The victim has bruises on his head, but he’s expected to be OK.

Surveillance video from a homeowner’s security camera nearby showed the aftermath of the carjacking, when the man ran to the resident’s home and knocked on the door for help, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The stolen vehicle’s GPS system had been malfunctioning recently, the rental company told police. The Toyota has a temporary Georgia tag that reads 24616371.
