A Cobb County businessman went to a bank Saturday afternoon to withdraw money for his employees — $25,000 in total.

When he drove home, he didn’t realize two thieves decided to tail him, intending to steal his employees’ payday.

The robbers ambushed him, threatening him and his family at gunpoint and made away with the cash, Cobb police told Channel 2 Action News. The victim, a father of five, said he feared for his family members’ lives.

“I thought when the other guy grabbed the gun, I thought he would shoot us all together,” the man, who asked Channel 2 to remain anonymous, said through a translator.

The robbery took place on Flemming Trail shortly after the man, who owns a construction company, withdrew the money from the Wells Fargo bank off Floyd Road, Channel 2 reported.

Police Sgt. Wayne Delk said this is becoming a disturbing trend, where suspects are following bank customers home to break into their cars and steal cash.

However, this incident was even more brazen and potentially violent.

“We would love to catch theses guys,” Delk said.

The victim told the news station that the suspects left in a small red SUV, possibly a Nissan Rogue or Murano. Police did not provide a description of the suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 770-499-3900.
