Riverdale police are investigating after at least two men who thought they were meeting a woman for a date were robbed at gunpoint.
Police said the woman, who is considered a “person of interest” in the case, was with the victims moments before two men approached them and robbed them.
The incidents both happened at the Harmony Pines Apartments on Upper Riverdale Road, police said.
One of the victims said he met the woman on a dating app called Plenty of Fish. He told police he took her on a date about 5:30 p.m. Jan. 25.
When the pair returned to the apartment complex, two men with guns approached the car they were in, police said.
The men got into the car and told the victim to drive, officials said. When they arrived at a location outside the Riverdale city limits, the men robbed the victim, assaulted him and stole his car, police said.
A similar incident happened about 10:15 p.m. Feb. 5, Riverdale police said. The victim told police he met the woman on an app called Tagged and met her for a date. When he arrived at the apartment complex, two armed men approached him and got into his car, police said.
After a struggle, however, the victim got away from the gunmen unharmed and called 911, police said.
Riverdale police are trying to identify the woman and the alleged robbers. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 770-909-5441.
