Brookhaven police are asking for help identifying a person of interest in a Saturday afternoon homicide at a local apartment complex.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, officers responded to the Esquire Apartments at 3102 Buford Highway after receiving multiple 911 calls. They found the victim between two buildings, suffering from a single gunshot wound.

“The officer’s attempts to revive the victim were not successful, and he pronounced dead at the scene,” police said.

The victim was later identified as 20-year-old Nicolas Morales Garcia. Brookhaven police released a sketch of a man they called a person of interest in the case.

“Investigators are attempting to identify this man and speak to him about the incident,” police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brookhaven police tip line at 404-637-0636. The line accepts both English- and Spanish-speaking callers and all tipsters can remain anonymous.
