Newton County jailer accused of sending porn to minor

A detention officer at the Newton County Jail has been arrested for allegedly sending pornographic images to a 16-year-old girl.

The Sheriff’s Office received a complaint Aug. 23, alleging that jailer Jacob Vanderzwart had exchanged pornographic images with the girl. He is charged with “electronically furnishing pornography to a minor,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Vanderzwart has been terminated from his job.
